A few months ago I was early for the bus to La Serena and spent some time
watching what can only be describd as the "Chilean Airforce's Big Gay
Fountain" - a monument near Plaza Italia which, at night, is surrounded by
pulsing jets of water, thrusting rhythmically upwards, and illuminated in
rainbow colours from beneath (changing shade in synchonrization with the
flow of water - very artistic).

Obviously (I suppose) this being macho S America, the gay scene is
somewhat underground here.  Depite that:

- yesterday I saw a couple of men walking down Providencia with their arms
round each other;

- Pauli claims I was eyed up by a couple of men when we were walking to
dinner last night (she's just jealous);

- this morning, out running in a local park (not that far from the Big Gay
Fountain), I passed two men facing each other, one with - unless I am very
mistaken - his dick out.

Dearie me.  And a female president.  This will all end in tears.
