Sensible Statistics for LHC Risk (Bad News)

The problem with the LHC risk assessment is that the consequences of being
wrong are so overwhelming that it's not enough to be "pretty sure" that
everything is OK.  The "whole point" of the LHC is that it will teach us
new things, so how can we predict with certainty that it is safe?

black hole will be created, and that it will grow, destroying Earth.
