A vertical waste water pipe, from all the kitchens on our side of the
building, blocked, at our level, between the sink and the washing machine
(sink worked fine).  Previously, this meant water backed up into the washing
machine, which gave us an indication of the problem and let us fix it.  But
the new washing machine has a one-way valve on the outlet, so the water
couldn't go there and instead backed up in the pipe, up the building, giving
fairly high pressure at our level.  We didn't know until we tried to use the
washing machine, which couldn't empty given the pressure at the outlet.
Sooooo.... I am not a smart man.  I decided to unscrew an access pipe to add
some of that unblocking liquid....  and the water, at high pressure, squirted
out...


Anyways, our usual gasfiter couldn't come (this was 10pm) so we ended up
calling http://www.lostecnicos.cl (2772 8435).  They were NOT cheap, but they
gave a price over the phone, which didn't change.  They arrived within an hour
of the first call, they had the equipment needed, and they were quick,
efficient, polite, and seemed to know what they were talking about.  It was
exactly what I needed.
