Olympic Opening Ceremony

I've been dreading the Olympics - I don't think we're that great a country,
and I didn't think we could produce a good opening ceremony.  But reading the
unfolding reports it seems like it was a pretty decent success.  It may even
have some internal political significance by placing so much emphasis on the
NHS.

Looking round the 'net - mainly english and spanish language - the responses
are generally positive.  Some unimpressed Spanish commentators in comments at
El Mundo and, perhaps most surprising, a headline on the "Worst moment so far"
at USA Today that refers to the lack of a moment of silence for the Israeli
athletes killed at Munich.

Which brought to mind a recent article I read in the recent Index on
Censorship (focussing on the games) that described the killing of between 30
and 300 Mexican students by Olympic police (employed by the Mexican
authorities) just before the 68 games.
