Index - Translations From Chile

From: andrew cooke <andrew@...>

Date: Sun, 16 Aug 2015 13:51:14 -0300

Unofficial translations of articles I find interesting, in either the Chilean
press or the related blogosphere.

If I do more translations in the future, I will update this page. Most recent
entries come first.

More Emotion In Chilean Wines - http://acooke.org/cute/MoreEmotio0.html

A fascinating piece from La Tercera. I love Chilean wine discussions
because they show so much of the internal machinery. You only need to read
a little between the lines to find interesting questions. For example - why
now? When I arrived here 20 years ago, it was clear that there was little
variety, and no fresh, light, red wines. So how can people that worked on
this for so long suddenly be so convinced they were completely wrong (one
famous enologist claims he didn't like the wines he made - seriously)?

The Bolivian Case Against Chile At The Hague - http://acooke.org/cute/TheBolivia0.html

An analysis of the dispute with a somewhat academic flavour. Very good on
  the historical background.

Chilean Political Scandals

The Blindness Of The Chilean Elite http://acooke.org/cute/TheBlindne0.html
  President Bachelet's Speech http://acooke.org/cute/PresidentB0.html
The Davalos Affair For Idiots http://acooke.org/cute/TheDavalos0.html
  Another Tax Fraud http://acooke.org/cute/AnotherTax0.html
The SQM Affair For Idiots http://www.acooke.org/cute/TheSQMAffa0.html
The Penta Affair For Idiots http://acooke.org/cute/ThePentaAf0.html

Not sure what I can add here. Depressing, shameful reading. You might want
to read in chronological order (from bottom to top). Little of what was
presented in Bachelet's speech has become concrete, so far.
