BitKeeper drops Linux (or vice-versa)

From: "andrew cooke" <andrew@...>

For a few years now, Linux has been using BitKeeper -
http://www.bitkeeper.com/- to manage the kernel source. It's never been
easy - on the Linux side people weren't happy to be using a closed source
product; on the BK side the person in charge was appallingly unstable.

And so various people started writing their own source management tools,
or reverse engineerking BK. It turns out that OSDL (the people who run /.
and Freshmeat and various other sites) were paying a programmer who was
also working on reverse engineering BK. This probably violates the BK
licence, and BK decided to pull out of the deal. The fullstory is here -
http://kerneltrap.org/node/4966

And it seems that Linus is now writing his own source management code -
http://lwn.net/Articles/131313/

This has been on /. -

http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/04/06/140202&tid=163&tid=8&tid=106
- but I found it via Hack the Planet - http://wmf.editthispage.com/2005/04/06
